All of a sudden, I felt like going on a holiday to Sabah. I really hoped to go there again! Last year, I went there on a school trip for CIP and Cultural exchange. It was my very first time going to East Malaysia and everything that I had gone through was a new experience for me. It was a 4D3N trip with my schoolmates and five teachers.
During the first day, after we arrived in Sabah, we boarded a coach and went up Mount Kinabalu. It was a very…very long and bumpy trip! Most of my schoolmates fell asleep during the journey, but I had way lot of fun taking photographs of the breathtaking scenery of Mount Kinabalu. Mount Kinabalu is so high that we seemed to be rising above the clouds. I was totally mesmerized by Sabah’s natural environment. It was so peaceful and just beautiful! We went to a hot spring later. It was very comfortable but we came out with “crab feet”.
On the second day, we went to an orphanage and actually taught the students English. It was a CIP organized by my school. We had performances put up for them and to out surprise, they prepared something for us too. We also went for a jungle trial; it was very slippery as it was drizzling. Most of us were drizzling wet after the trial. The trip back to the city took 5 whole hours! And it was pitch black after the sun set. On the third day, we went for a city tour- we visited the chocolate factory, Sabah’s National Museum etc. Soon it was nighttime and we went to visit the Mari-Mari Cultural Village. Over there, it was the greatest excitement. The tour guide gave us an introduction on the different tribes that were in Sabah in the past. The whole journey was so exciting that it became one of the most memorable tours that everyone of us had.
On the last day, we had to return to Singapore. I never thought there was enough time. I missed my Sabah family and that teacher who had taught me a lot.
