Last Saturday, my family received complimentary tickets to watch Resorts World's Voyage De La Vie. I had watched its advertisement and it seemed really amazing. It was not common to have so many talented people performing in Singapore. I received my first surprise when the show began with the first performer appeared in the audience. He was a very flexible man and could walk on the ledges and seats, while interacting with the audience at the same time. It was not the usual way which a performance would start. The entrance of the first performer brought in many of the other performers, like the wild men, the swinging men, the magician etc.
The first performance on stage was a comedic magic show which the magician interacted with the audience. The main character, the boy (Jonathan Leong), then entered the story with the flexible man. The man performed stunts that were human impossible, but the grace of his body movements stunned many of us. Jonathan, being a Singapore Idol finalist, blew the audience with his brilliant voice. Many performances left me with a deep impression. The Lady on the Moon was very courageous to move about on a swing high above the ground. She was really impressive as she could support herself with her hands and legs on the unstable swing. The Man who Shoots performed a thrilling act where he stood in the middle with an apple on his head after he positioned the arrows to trigger the next arrow, causing a wave of arrows flying around him with the final arrow piercing through the apple on his head.
The performances were arranged in a manner that engaged the audience in a roller coaster ride. They got the audience high with dangerous acts like swinging on parallel bars, and calmed us down with a soothing song or a quieter performance. We laughed at the funny interaction between the pianist and the magician. We gasped in horror when the performers were lifted high above the ground to perform dangerous stunts. We were fascinated with all the skills and courage the performers had and we were touched by the beauty of the act. All in all, it was a beautiful act and I really enjoyed every performance, which were many years of hard work for all the performers.
