My impression of Antonio is a serious and moody man. Throughout the play, he had been feeling troubled and uncomfortable all the time. He appears to be a devoted man, one that will give up everything for his friend. He is well liked by the society, possibly due to his generosity. However, he gives me a feeling that he is actually a lonely man. His character is a little dull, compared to the other characters in the story, because he does not portray any strong emotions, but only appears submissive to his fate.
Antonio is not a character that I especially liked. He is not a confident man and does not fight for his rights. He can be seen as foolished for not considering the implications of certain actions or deals he made while tryng to help his friends. He does not know how to set his priorities and was slow to recognise others' intention to harm him. His devotion to his friends is commendable, but I feel that friendship to that extent is too exaggerated. I think that he only has little friends, therefore treasures his friends even more. Overall, he is not a character that I really like but does display certain qualities which I admire about him.
