You are lovely~
Tuesday, August 9, 2011 @ Nature of Love
Love is a natural process and it is often arise from attraction. People are often attracted by another party's appearance, possessions and endearing qualities. The nature and concept of love is rather different in the past and in modern world. The greatest difference is the faster pace of life, higher standards of living and the greater expectations of marriage. The concept of love in modern society has been muffled by the materialistic mindset of humans. Marriage has become an agreement and a deal, instead of a both-side dedication towards the relationship. Love becomes a come-and-go thing.
In Elizabethan times, life is probably much simpler. In 'The Merchant of Venice', Bassanio has pursued Portia for her wealth, this is very similar to modern world. This leads me to a conclusion that love is not simple, but there are always motives under the love, which will allow one party to benefit from. People seek wealth through love. People seek support through love. Not many people seek love for love.
Love arise from attraction, which is caused by greed and lust. Love is no longer a strong feeling of affection towards another party, it becomes an exchange of benefits.
Love is not simple...
