1) The land crumpled to waste. Roofs collapsed, creating a savage mess. Nothing was left except for the bloodsheds of the young soldiers. The place was surrounded by the smell of fresh blood and the screams and cries of people. It had become a wasteland and a dumping ground for the broken toys. A young solider laid motionlessly on the ground. His teammates came to his side, ushering him to keep holding on and never stop breathing. The breathing of the solider was ever so faint that he lies on the line between life and death. The fallen weapon marked his defeat. His face was stained with blood and his uniform was shredded into pieces. Even though his teammates were there, they had little chance to keep him alive. The place emitted a sense of death. There were no hope, no life, no tomorrow.
2) A Day in the Life of the World War II
Ever since they arrived here, I knew our lives were coming to an end. Why war? Why us? Yesterday, the Japanese army advanced towards Pasir Panjang. Guns were firing early in the morning, both sides suffered from much loss. However, the fighting persisted until late afternoon and many of us could no longer hold on. Their tanks broke our defence. We were short of ammunition and greatly outnumbered, but Lieutenant Adnan encouraged us to fight on. I was wounded and was lying beside a rock. I could no longer fight with my comrades. My best friend in army was shot in the back and he died on my lap. I could do nothing to help him! In the end, we lost. I survived, but it was just plain torture. I know this battle would not end so quickly. Sorry, my comrades, that I was unable to avenge for you. When would peace be regained?
